This page was created to provide education regarding emergency treatment of upper extremity disorders to providers working in urgent care and emergency departments. Once a year, we offer a continuing education course providing hands-on demonstrations and practice of upper extremity injury care.

Course Objectives

  • Evaluate, manage, and establish appropriate care plans for acute conditions of the hand and upper extremity.

  • Perform minor hand procedures (nail bed repairs, drainage of infections, etc.)

  • Learn techniques for local anesthesia, injections, and aspirations

  • Improve fracture reduction and splinting techniques
